The irony in the name is there to fool you because the truth does not exist outside one's brain. God is no longer a guarantee of truth. Robbe-Grillet's first “Slovak” film is telling a story about Boris and also Jan, a hero and a crook. The two-faced hero constructs his own identities and re-invents himself constantly. He speaks to exist and that is the source of his true self from his head. He presents the peculiar disposition of speaking and hence being hypothetical, and fake if needed.
